Gold Coast Resort Accommodation

Earlier this year I spent a couple of nights on the Gold Coast. I was there for a work event, but that didn’t stop me from having a bit of relaxation time. If you’re looking for Gold Coast resort accommodation, look no further than the Mercure Gold Coast Resort.

Part of the Accor Group brand, the Mercure Gold Coast is located in Carrara. It is minutes away from the famous Carrara Markets, the Gold Coast’s shopping mecca, Pacific Fair and also some of the best beaches on the coast. The motorway is 5 minutes from the resort and once you’re on the motorway you’ll be at the famous Gold Coast theme parks less than 20 minutes later.

If you’re a keen golfer (or someone in the family is), you’re in luck, as the Resort is situated in between Lakelands and Palm Meadows golf courses. Based on this fact alone, you can imagine just how peaceful and serene the surroundings of the Resort are.

When I stayed at this perfect Gold Coast resort accommodation, I had a Superior King Room, and the bed was the most dreamiest I’ve slept on in a while. The day bed lounge was perfect for relaxing after the work event I’d been at and watching some trash TV before bed. My view out on the balcony was of one of the golf courses through some spindly trees.

The service of the cleaning staff was impressive. When I got back to my room on the second day I was treated to another towel animal and note. There was a towel animal in my room when I arrived the first day, but on the second day whichever staff member had refreshed my room had made me another towel animal and written me a lovely note. Just makes you warm and fuzzy inside doesn’t it? I was grinning ear to ear when I saw it, as this is the first time I’ve ever had something like that left for me in any hotel I’ve stayed in.

The facilities on site provide most of what you would want on a daily basis. The restaurant serves a delicious and expansive buffet breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner. There are 2 swimming pools and the main one also has a spa. Both pools and the spa are outside, but since it’s on the Gold Coast, it’s warm enough to swim at least 9 months of the year. The main swimming pool and spa area is off the side of the main hotel building where the lobby, reception and restaurant is. The restaurant’s terrace actually overlooks the pool area. There are a number of sun loungers, big umbrellas and even a giant sized chess board in the pool area as well.

The landscaping of the hotel property adds to it’s feeling of a tropical resort, as everywhere you look there are towering palm trees and evergreen shrubs with the occasional flowering plant. Another fantastic aspect about this hotel, is the parking. You can park undercover and it’s completely FREE! I hate going to a hotel and they charge you extra to park your car. I always feel like it’s a penalty for not being an actual tourist who catches a shuttle bus from the airport to and from the hotel.

If you’re looking for a romantic couples getaway or a weeks holiday with kids, you need to add this place to your list of choices to consider.
